I've never done anything like this before, but Ellie did such a great job organizing the first read-a-thon earlier this week and I was dismayed to have missed it, so I thought I'd start up another one while I've got plenty of time to do so. What surprises you most about the Read-a-Thon, so far? I'll of course re-post them along with my answers in a separate message at hour 24. Don't forget to let me know what thread you'd like us to link to.
I'll eventually have to stop and get some sleep, probably in what will be the small hours of the morning here in Montreal. I have commitments this weekend, but I hope to pop in for a portion.
Using this tool i OS users can ‘semi-restore’ their device without actually updating to i OS 7.1, thus retaining their device’s jailbreak state.
What Semi Restore does is it removes all the tweaks and hacks you had downloaded from Cydia, fix permissions and erase user data among other things.
The i OS 7.1 update is currently available for download, which means if you restore your device right now it will automatically get upgraded to the latest version.
While that is not a big issue for normal i OS users it is a big concern for those who jailbreak their device because i OS 7.1 jailbreak hasn’t been released yet.
My name is Ilana and I'm reading from Montreal, Québec, Canada. Do you have any tips for other readers, something you think is working well for you that others may not have discovered? Could you list a few high-interest books that you think could keep a reader engaged next time? Do you have any suggestions for how to improve the next read-a-thon? Just reconfirming that I'll be here, I'll probably start a bit later on.
I don't have any specific reading goals, but basically I want to read as much as possible within a 24 hour period and record my progress as I go along. Will now post the final 24th hour meme for those who have either already finished their reading stint or want to finish before this read-a-thon officially ends. My only tip is to make sure you have a couple of books on hand with a large clear font and good spacing as the print size does start to matter after about 14-15 hours of reading.#8: We'll be glad to have you Darryl, for however long you can participate. And thanks for the suggestion, I can see how that would be a major consideration after a while!
I'm sure I don't need to say this, but I encourage anyone participating to keep posting hourly updates and cheering each other on whether I'm *here* or not. Even if I can't get into this one though, I do want to do a read-a-thon -- the whole shebang -- at some point, so I'm geeked to see that they are continuing. I should have more time available than the read-a-thon earlier this week.
Here are some great tips as suggested by Ellie:"My best advice would be to prepare beforehand. What book are you most looking forward to for the second half of the Read-a-Thon? Did you have to make any special arrangements to free up your whole day (or the hours you're spending with us)? I've also convinced my non-LT member husband, who is not a particularly avid reader, to join in with me, so I will report on his reading too.9pm Friday it is!
